Deye vs SIGENERGY: which solar inverter is right for your Cape Town home?

13 October 2026

Deye and SIGENERGY dominate South African solar searches for good reason — they're the two brands most installers actually fit. We're an installation partner for both, and we put them on different customers depending on the house, the budget and how the owner wants the system to look and feel.

How they're built

Deye is the classic hybrid setup: a wall-hung inverter plus separate lithium battery(ies). It's flexible — start with one 5.12kWh battery and add more later — and it scales across the whole range, from 5kW single-phase homes to 50kW three-phase commercial plants. Deye inverters take up to 9 panels per string.

SIGENERGY's Sigenneo range is an all-in-one: inverter and battery in a single unit with nothing hanging separately on the wall. The NEO series runs from 5kW single-phase up to 15kW three-phase, with storage from 6kWh to 30kWh, and each string carries up to 18 panels. Because it's one product designed as one product, the installation is neater and the warranty is simpler.

Warranty and backup

This is where SIGENERGY earns its premium price: a 10-year warranty with a 48-hour swap-out guarantee. If a unit fails, it's replaced within 48 hours — you're not waiting weeks for a repair on the equipment your whole house depends on.

Deye carries a solid standard warranty (typically 10 years on the inverter when registered, 10 years on the battery to 70% capacity, subject to the manufacturer's terms). It's proven equipment with a huge installed base in South Africa and parts are widely available.

Price: what you'll actually pay

As a rough 2026 guide: a 5kW Deye hybrid inverter is around R15,300 excluding VAT before batteries; a Sigenneo NEO 5kW with 6kWh of storage built in is R40,680 excluding VAT. Fully installed with panels, mounting, cabling, DBs, COC and City registration, a Deye or Luxpower 5kW system starts around R109,000 including VAT and a Sigenneo 5kW/6kWh system around R150,000 including VAT.

In short: Deye is the value pick with maximum flexibility; SIGENERGY is the premium pick with the strongest warranty and the cleanest install.

Which one for your house?

If you want the most storage and inverter per rand, and you like the idea of expanding later, Deye is hard to beat. If you want one tidy unit, the best warranty in the business and a 48-hour swap-out promise, Sigenneo is worth the premium — especially on three-phase homes up to 15kW.
